We’ve been home for a month- it’s been luxurious! Got organized, spent some time on the beach, worked on new projects at a slower pace. I’ve really enjoyed having the time to work on some major pieces after our hectic winter and spring schedule- it left me slap worn out. In a few days we head to Madison, WI for the Art Fair on the Square– a huge, dynamic art show surrounding the state capitol building. It’s an impressive show and setting, sponsored by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.
But the real kicker is the CHEESE! There is a shop called Fromagination on the square, with some seriously aged cheddar at their counter. I can’t wait to savor some again- it’s hard to find in Florida. I’ll let you know my favorites- they ship, you know.
We’re almost ready to leave Florida to head for the Windy City- Chicago is on our minds. The Old Town Art Fair is this coming weekend, June 9-10. It is staged in a lovely neighborhood in Lincoln Park, a stone’s throw from Lake Michigan. The Old Town Triangle Association sponsors the fair and a Garden Walk in their district of historic homes. The show is a Chicago tradition, drawing a knowledgable and engaged audience. It’s a pleasure to participate in this event, a great kick off to our summer season.
From Chicago we cruise to Virginia Beach, VA to show our jewelry at the Boardwalk Art Show sponsored by the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). This was one of the first shows of my career as a jewelry artist, and it holds a special place in my heart. We look forward to spending 4 days with the Atlantic Ocean as our backdrop, greeting old friends and meeting new collectors.
If we don’t see you there, we will see you here when we get back!
We almost lost our favorite show this year! After 38 years, the organizers of the Piccolo Spoleto Craft Show retired from running their event. Fortunately the Office of Cultural Affairs stepped in and the show will go on. The Piccolo Spoleto Crafts Exhibition will be held in Wragg Square Park once again, for four days over Memorial Day Weekend. Spread the word! We are looking forward to seeing you Friday May 25- Monday May 28 downtown in the churchyard. For more info visit piccolospoleto.com.
I have so many new ideas on my table- necklaces and earrings waiting to come to life. We have two more shows to do in our winter run before I get some dedicated studio time where I can work on new ideas thoughtfully. I can’t wait! In the meanwhile, I’ll keep drawing. This weekend we are off to Sanibel Island for Sanibel-Captiva Lions Club Art and Craft Fair. Looking forward to seeing all of my shell collecting collectors there!
We have passed the center point of our run of 10 shows in a row- and I’m tired! Planning on getting a good night’s sleep before we open up in Venice, FL for the 17th Annual Downtown Venice Art Classic. Venice Avenue is lined with great restaurants, which makes for a really great afternoon at the art show. We’re going to have beautiful weather, so come out to see us if you’re in the area!
Off to the Southernmost Point this weekend- we will be participating in the Old Island Days Art Festival in Key West once again. The Key West Art Center and Gallery hosts us on the streets of Old Town for this one of a kind event. We have lots of new work to share, and we will be sure to bring back lots of pictures of our favorite place!
